Romo, Cowboys D Silence Rams

A slow start for the Cowboys is becoming the norm, as the only standout play early was in interception for Tony Romo to close the first quarter by Oshimogo Atowke. The Dallas defense held, however, and the Rams missed a field goal. St. Louis would have less than a hundred yards at the half.

"That what it's all about," Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware said. "Getting the offense back the ball, and the defense holding the offense to as few points. I think we did pretty good this game."

In the second quarter, the offense starts rolling. Tony Romo hits four different receivers on the drive, and sets up a two-yard run for the go-ahead touchdown. With no offense, the rams turn to special teams. After a Dallas punt, a "where-are-they-now" moment as Dante Hall goes 85 yards for the tie game.

But then, it's Romo time, and not even a high snap can stop him. Romo turns a drive-ending miscue into an NFL Films, did-you-see-that-highlight first down scramble.

"Oh my God," Ware said. "
I'm glad I don't play agaist that guy."

Don't give up a touchdown, and don't get killed," Romo laughed. "Once you pick it up, which took a while, you just try and make a play. Part of you says ‘get rid of the ball, throw it away', but you analyze things quickly in your brain, and try and keep it alive.

Romo finishes the drive himself, with a ball fake and a naked bootleg. 83 yards in 12 plays for the half time lead.

In the third quarter, the defense returns with a vengeance. A Ram drive ends with Greg Ellis getting his first sack in his first game back since last November.

"It's a blessing to get out here and be able to do it again," Ellis said, "because I was so close to not being able to do it. You kind of take it for granted until it hits you."

Three plays later, Offensive Coordinator Jason Garrett calls the perfect play. The Rams go all out on a blitz, and Romo goes to Patrick Crayton who slipped a tackle for a fifty-nine yard touchdown, and a 21-7 lead.

The Rams punt it away, and again three plays later, Romo finds Crayton for a touchdown, thus ending the competitive portion of our game.

The Cowboys won 35-7, and are still undefeated at 4-0 on the season.

"We're a good team once we start to get a feel for what they're doing," Romo said, "then we become very difficult tio stop."

Wide receiver Terrell Owens agreed. "We have the talent on both sides of the ball, we just have to remain healthy and go out and play every week."

The Cowboys play Buffalo next Monday night.
