Volunteers Build Church In A Day

It's a story that's really in it's name, Church In A Day.  As hard as it may be to believe, dozens of volunteers are doing exactly that, building a new church in just 24 hours.  The church says it's a new home and the new start to a very bright future.

There was no time for chit-chat in Lindale today.  That's because volunteers are busy building the future home of Tabernacle of Praise".

"Exciting," said Tabernacle of Praise member Nancy Love.  "It is great."

"It's an awesome feeling," said Tabernacle of Praise Pastor David Dumas.  "Really words cannot explain."  For a year and a half, Dumas and his congregation have been meeting at the Lindale Library.  Last year, Dumas decided they needed a new and more permanent home and applied for the United Pentecostal's national Church In A Day program.  Fast forward to today, and Dumas' dream is quickly becoming reality.

"It is going to be very special," said Dumas.  "We have a permanent place of worship.  People know that there will be a church here from now on."  Volunteers started working on the church at 7:00 a.m. Friday morning, and to give you an idea of just how quickly they were building, they started with just a concrete slab and four hours later the walls were up and roof on.

"It's just awesome," said Tabernacle of Praise Dean Dumas.  "We have just the most wonderful people in the organization.  They are wonderful."  With the new home, the church says it hopes to grow, so big, one day it will have to add on to this very special church built in just one day.

Tabernacle of Praise will have its first service in the new church Sunday.  The church will be the 15th built in Texas by Church In A Day.
