Gift of Love: Nikki, 15 Year Old Needs Forever Family
"Oh, long horns! We are so putting that on there. I love long horns," exclaims Nikki as she decorates a frame with a western style.
She is described as a real cowgirl! One who loves horses and crafts.
"She is a very special young lady. She's been waiting a long time for a family and really needs a family that will be patient with her and understand that she does have some limitations but she is willing to work towards the goals," says Lori Sutton White with Child Protective Services.
Nikki has spent the last six years in foster care removed because of abuse. "Being in foster care is sad," says Nikki.
"She had some ups and downs and some disappointments but she doesn't want to focus on her past she wants to focus on her future," explains Lori.
This 15 year old is in the 8th grade in special education classes. She will need guidance and support academically but tries hard. "I like to read. My favorite books are scary books," says Nikki.
Nikki would do best as an only child. She needs guidance setting boundaries.
Lori says, "She doesn't have a lot of expectations. She just wants a family that is going to love her and take care of her and let her be a normal teenager."
I asked her if there was just one thing about you'd want a family to know about you what would that be? She replied, "That I'm nice."
And she's ready for some changes in her life. "I don't have a forever family." Nikki goes on to say," but I would able to trust another family and I don't think it would take that long."
The Gift of Love could help Nikki reach her potential. In return, she has a lot of unconditional love to give.
