Shooting At An East Texas Cemetery

A shooting at an East Texas cemetery has left one Lufkin man dead.

Cherokee County Sheriff's were called Monday afternoon to the Sardis Cemetery just north of Rusk.

There was an armed man, Allen Lee Wallace, of Lufkin, at the cemetery.

Authorities say Wallace aimed the gun at the deputies who then fired at Wallace. Wallace was a Lufkin Police officer for 23 years. No officers were injured.

    The Texas Department of Transportation is looking to help make traveling easier for travelers in Tyler.
