Commissioners Court on YouTube?

East Texas government goes YouTube?

Smith County Commissioner's meetings have been posted on YouTube by Judge Joel Baker. Monday, Commissioner JoAnn Fleming raised concern as to the security of the postings and the ease of ability to change the clips, however Judge Joel Baker says posting them about open government.

"Nothing has happened to any of those videos as far as I know. I doubt that anyone will tamper with them," said Judge Baker, "I think it is important for people to know what we do What goes on in open government."

"If you watch a commissioners court meeting or a public hearing the only official place to be sure you are getting the real deal is on the Smith County website," said Commissioner Fleming.

Commissioner Fleming also expressed concern that someone would pull the video off YouTube, edit it and put it back up.

The court decided to ask the I.T. department to look into posting the meetings on the Smith County Website.
