Day For Kids

Thousands of East Texans made it out to Bergfeld Park in Tyler for a fun filled day all for kids. Saturday, was the Boys and Girls Club of East Texas' seventh annual Day For Kids event. Children of all ages enjoyed activities, including climbing a giant wall, the always popular water dunk toss and even forecasting the weather with KLTV 7 Meteorologist Mark Scirto.  Parents say it was a great way to spend a Saturday with the family, and best of all, it was free.

"It's just good entertainment, especially when you've got three kids," said parent Eric Kirkpatrick.  "A little bit of something for everybody."

"Kids are our future,"said Coordinator of Special Events for the Boys and Girls Club of East Texas Melissa Bristol.  "They're going to be our next city leaders, state leaders, and we need to show them that we are going to spend a little time with them because that's what it's all about."  Organizers say they estimate 6,000 people attended this year's Day for Kids.
