Tonight, 11 alleged East Texas gang members are behind bars. Tyler Police say the 6 juveniles and 5 adults were all involved in at least four different incidents last Saturday night, including one where a 16-year-old suspect accidentally shot himself in the foot with a sawed-off shotgun. That suspect has not been arrested yet.
Earlier that night, police say, they beat a man and his 15-year-old daughter after he asked them to move out of a parking lot at a Robert E. Lee football game.
"We want the community to know they can go to a football game and know they can get to their car safely and not have people out there terrorizing them or challenging them. Who would have ever thought that you were going to ask someone to move and all of a sudden they just attack viciously like that? So we're pleased that we were able to arrest this many," said Officer Don Martin with the Tyler Police Department.
Right now, 10 of the people in custody are charged with a first degree felony of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.
