Police Investigate Prostitute Abductions In Marshall

An eerie story from Marshall today as investigators arrest a suspect who allegedly kidnapped a prostitute in the Longview area. The suspect allegedly beat her and took her to a remote area north of Marshall where she escaped and called police.

"She claimed she had been abducted in Longview on 4th Street and Highway 80.  She sustained injuries that were consistent with the story that she was telling," said Captain Mike Alexander of the Harrison County Sheriff's Office.

Harrison County investigators said the woman, a prostitute from Longview, told them she was abducted by Marlin Eugene Wales of Marshall.  Marshall is now suspected in three abductions of prostitutes from the Longview area in the last two weeks.

"We continue to develop other charges and other things may develop" Alexander said.

Investigators believe Wales bound the woman before taking her to his north Marshall location. Longview police are very familiar with the periodic prostitution problem on Highway 80, and say it would be dangerous for anyone to get in a car with a stranger.

"You don't want to put yourself at risk by actually exposing yourself to someone you don't know.  Particularly getting in a car and going to an unknown location with another person," said Sergeant Carlos Samples of the Longview Police Department.

Wales was arrested and charged with assault and kidnapping for the latest incident.

In a bizarre twist, after Wales had beat her, the woman denied sex to Wales.  He then reportedly apologized and went to work the next morning, leaving the victim to flee and call police.

Wales remains in the Harrison county jail. No bond amount has been set yet.

The John Tyler Lions always seem to look sharp in their uniforms. But thanks to East Texas lawyer Keith Miller, the Lions will look better and play safer. Helmets that advertise lowering the impact of hits, and possibly reduce the amount of concussions, come with a hefty price-tag. Miller's donation of 7,500 dollars, will go to help the lions cover that cost. "Keith Miller's been a big sponsor of John Tyler High School football program for years now.  I know it's...More >>
