Make A Wish Foundation Grants East Texas Boy's Wish

It's a wish come true.  This afternoon, a going away party was held at an East Texas school for a very special and lucky eight year old boy.  Gregory Kelly of Lindale is going to Disney World thanks to the Make A Wish Foundation.  It's a wish for a boy who touches the lives of everyone he meets.

"He's got lots of energy, and he just makes me smile everyday," said Gregory's mother Jannabeth Kelly.  "People are just typically drawn to him."  Today, is Gregory's day.  With a party, his first grade class said goodbye to Gregory before he heads off to Disney World.  A wish, Gregory's mom says started with Gregory's fascination with airplanes.

"He really wanted to fly like his dad does because his dad fly's a lot, and we thought, ok we will fly and then we thought, well maybe something for the whole family would be great, like go to Disney World," said Kelly.  Friday, Gregory, his Mom, Dad and big brother will head to the Magical Kingdom for a week.  The Make A Wish Foundation says it hopes will bring as much to joy to Gregory as Gregory does to everyone he meets.

"I think he is going to love it because when we talked to him, he wanted to ride rides and see Mickey Mouse," said Gregory's Wish Granter Tammy Miller. "Families go through so much, and it just gives them a little hope at the end of that rainbow."  A rainbow, despite having Down Syndrome, Gregory's mom says right now is shining bright.

"He's just your typical 8 year old boy," said Kelly.  "He enjoys life and makes people around him enjoy it."

Gregory says his favorite Disney movie is Cars and hopes to meet some of the characters.  The Make A Wish Foundation helps about 70 children every year.
