ETMC founding radiation oncologist honored

The board room at the ETMC Cancer Institute has been named after Dr. Joseph Selman.  Dr. Selman was involved in opening the region's first radiation therapy center at ETMC in 1983.  ETMC Regional Healthcare System President/CEO Elmer G. Ellis praised his commitment to ETMC's cancer programs and his patients during the dedication ceremony in saying, "He is always devoted to advancing our quality of care, medical technology and physician collaboration."

Dr. Selman is a nationally known author and educator on the subjects of radiation therapy, biology and physics.  He recently celebrated his 92nd birthday! While Dr. Selman is technically retired from the practice of clinical medicine, he remains an active force in the ETMC Cancer Institute.  He is involved with weekly peer review sessions in radiation oncology and participates as a consulting physician at the weekly cancer conferences.  In addition, he provides one-on-one orientations for patients just beginning their radiation therapy treatment
