Jessup Set To Try Again For World Record

They say the heat in Utah is so hot right now, it could burn the rubber right off your shoes.

That may be what caused problems for Gerald Jessup's ignition, putting a temporary stop on his world record breaking attempt.

KLTV first told you about 71-year-old Gerald Jessup of Tyler last month. Jessup plans to break the land speed record of 112 miles per hour. 

He is currently in Bonneville, Utah this week aiming for the record. A crew member told KLTV that 100 yards into Jessup's first attempt his ignition blew. They ordered a part and he will try again on Wednesday.

Jessup has until Friday to break the record.
