East Texans Remember Tyler Publisher Nelson Clyde III

East Texans are remembering the life of newspaper publisher Nelson Clyde III.

Clyde passed away yesterday at the age of 61.

Clyde was publisher of the "Tyler Morning Telegraph" and president of T.B. Butler Publishing Company.

Clyde is remembered  for many philanthropic endeavors including his fund raising for the Discovery Science Place in Tyler, where he served as the museum's board president for the last 13 years.

"He served as an important part of our fundraiser over the pass thirteen years through his connections in the community,"said Leslie Watson, Development Director of Discovery Science Place.

"My father loved the simplest things in life and there were things that pleased him and that he took joy in, that did not require a big show and I believe that made him a rich person," said Nelson Clyde IV.

"We're going to miss his wisdom, the person that he is and the person that he was for our community," said Mayor Joey Seeber.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
