Non-Profit Health Clinics Receive Federal Grant

More dollars for health care in Northeast Texas is on the way for the next three years after the federal government recognizes the Community Health Clinics of Northeast Texas.

That announcement came Tuesday night in Tyler.  The clinics serve the poorest East Texans and as the non-profit health provider, they'll be able to bring in more providers and extend hours to serve more people.

"This has been a long run for us. We began this process in 2002 and we have gone through submitting applications and resubmitting applications and contacting senators who have written letters on our behalf," said Clinics Chairman Dr. Bennie Webster.

The grant also means more reimbursement from Medicaid and Medicare and also student loan forgiveness for providers.
