6 Puppies Found In Garbage Bag On The Side Of The Road

Sylvia Olivares was driving down C.R. 4122 just north of Lindale when she stumbled across an unusual package.

"I came across this garbage bag on the side of the road.  And as I was passing by, I saw this puppy pop his head out of the bag," she said

Olivares said on her way back down the road, she stopped to see if it really was a puppy that she had seen.

"And sure enough, the puppy was there with a pair of shoelaces wrapped around its neck," she said.

Olivares took the puppy home and went back down the road again, only to find five more puppies.

She said the puppies were in bad shape.  All of them were covered with ant bites and were severely malnourished.

"They were so dehydrated.  I tried feeding them, giving them a little bit of water, and as I gave them the water, they would just throw up," she said.

Olivares made a temporary home for the six orphaned puppies in her own dog's kennel and now they are a lot healthier.

"Now, they're just fat little things," she said, laughing.

Fatter, but in much better shape than when they were found.
