Two Dump Trucks Hit Power Lines In Two Separate Accidents

A strange day for dump trucks in Tyler. Two of them knock out power in parts of Tyler, in two separate accidents.
Around 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon, a dump truck that was working on Grande Blvd., got tangled with a power line.  Police say the driver drove off with the bed still in the air, hitting the power line.  The truck knocked out power in several nearby homes and businesses.  It even caused a traffic light to go out, which police say lead to an accident. Fortunately, police say everyone was okay. The hanging dump truck, however, did gather quite a crowd.  It took crews more than an hour to free the truck from the power line.  Power has since been restored.

The other accident, earlier in the day shut down traffic on Loop 323 between Paluxy and Highway 110. A dump truck, swerving to avoid rear-ending a car apparently ran into a utility pole. The accident brought down power lines and a few nearby businesses were without power for over an hour. No one was injured in the accident but the driver of the dump truck was cited for having a defective brake.
