Friends, Family, and Football Team Remember East Texas Teen

Hundreds of friends and family came together Saturday for the funeral of an East Texas teenager killed in a car crash earlier this week.  Derek Timms, 17, was a senior at Chapel Hill High School and was a member of their football team.  Saturday afternoon, the entire football team, sporting their blue and gold jerseys, came out to support the Timms' family.  Coaches, teachers, and students said they will always remember Derek as the ever-smiling, straight "A" student and offensive linemen.

"He was the most humble kid, never asked for anything, always had that little grin on his face, that smile, that would light up our locker room," said Chapel Hill Football Coach Phil Castles.  "He was always there for our kids and our coaches and would never ask for anything special, and was grateful for everything."  The other teenager in the car with Timms, fellow teammate Marquis Warren underwent surgery Saturday.  We're told he's in good condition after suffering a broken hip.
