High School Football Player Among The Dead In Car Accident, 1 Injured

We've learned the identity of two of the three victims involved in a car accident on Tuesday evening. Chapel Hill ISD (Smith County) offensive lineman, 17-year-old Derek Timms died in the wreck. His teammate, Marquis Warren remains in good condition at a local hospital. Coaches tell KLTV Warren's hip was broken in the accident.

The third victim, a woman, was also killed in the accident. DPS has not released her name at this time. We'll bring you those details as soon as they become available.

DPS said two cars collided Tuesday (August, 14th) evening on FM 850, just south of Highway 31 in Smith County. At one point, two people were trapped in a car. It took rescue crews about an hour to get them out.

KLTV 7 has learned Timms and Warren were heading to football practice when the accident happened.
