East Texas Woman Leads Police On High Speed Chase

An East Texas woman is behind bars after allegedly leading police on a high speed chase through Tyler.

The Smith County Sheriff's Department received a call around 1:00 p.m. Monday saying a woman had driven off from a convenience store in Swan without paying for gasoline.  A sheriff's deputy later spotted the woman's car at motel on Highway 69 and Loop 323.  That's when authorities say the woman took off at speeds topping 100 miles per hour.  The woman ran into a traffic jam at the intersection of Highway 64 and Loop 323 where deputies then took her into custody.

Rachael Wintters, 33 has been charged with theft, evading arrest and possession of a controlled substance.
