First Mondays "Elvis Style"

You have to be of "that generation" to know just what Elvis meant to American music history.

There are few artists, and some would say none who has shaped what we listen to and the style of music more than Elvis Presley.

At Bubba Jean's restaurant in Malakoff, every first Monday of the month is a time for Elvis fans to come together and listen to the stylings of Elvis tribute artist James Wages.

"That's what I do it for, and even more touching is the little children. They know who Elvis is and they're two generations behind.  But thats what I do it for.  It's family oriented, and there are some people who aren't fans who become fans afterwards.  They've told me that. It's great. It's my happiness," Wages says.

84-year-old fan Margaret Dagley travels from Wills Point every month.

"We're all Elvis fans -- all of us.   And we go anywhere that James goes to be with him and support him, because we think he's the best tribute artist."

Elvis Night has been going on for the last two years.  It happens every first Monday starting at 6 p.m at Bubba Jean's restaurant.

That's in downtown Malakoff just north of Highway 31 on Terry Street.
