Nebraska Tigers Need Help Getting To East Texas

Some tigers in Nebraska need your help getting to East Texas.  Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge located near Hawkins says it has been asked to house three tigers taken from a Nebraska home.  The problem, Tiger Creek does not have enough room to house the tigers, or the funding to build extra cages.  If Tiger Creek cannot take them, it says the tigers in Nebraska will be euthanized.  That's why the refuge is asking for the public's help.

"None of us (Wildlife Refugees) have empty cages that are just waiting for animals," said Tiger Creek Director and Head Keeper Terri Werner.  "One, it is very expensive to build cages for these large carnivores.  We have to make sure they are kept safe, that the public is kept safe, all that kind of stuff, so we have to have specialized you know chain link fence and all that kind of stuff."  Tiger Creek says it needs to raise about $150,000 before it can take the Nebraska tigers, and they don't have that much time.  To find out how you can help, go to our web site and click on the Know More on 7 link.  There you will find Tiger Creek.
