A choir and many people gathered for the re-activitation of the NAACP Tyler Youth Council Saturday. Young people ages 12 to 17 were encouraged to join the organization that promotes leadership, working with community leaders and voicing their opinion.
"They need to understand that they are important," said Youth Advisor Angela Rowell. "We need them as leaders in the community. We offer scholarships to our kids and a lot of opportunities that they need." If you are interested in joining contact the NAACP Office in Tyler, or call Angela Rowell at (903) 360-0338.
