Bond Increase For Melinda Jackson

The cost to get out of jail went up again for an East Texas woman facing a myriad of pending drug and alcohol-related charges.

Tuesday night, Melinda Jackson's bond was increased by $200,000.

She's facing two DWI's; both involving wrecks and one that ended with a teenage boy in the hospital.

This morning, Judge Cynthia Stevens Kent increased her bond an additional 65 thousand dollars. The judge cited concerns for the public's safety, and a fear that a lower bond might make Jackson a flight risk.

The Distric Attorney's Office tried to get the bond raised on two other misdemeanor charges, but those requests were denied.
