Lindale Man Accused Of Shooting Mother Multiple Times
A man is in jail, accused of shooting his mother multiple times.
Just before midnight Monday, Lindale Police responded to a 911 call in the 1200 block of South Main street.
Police say 34-year-old Keven D. McIntyre shot his mother, 50-year-old Vickie McIntyre. Vickie was transported to Trinity Mother Francis with multiple gunshot wounds. She is in critical condition.
The details are still sketchy, but we know four people were inside the home when the shooting happened: Keven, his mother Vickie, his grandmother, and his girlfriend.
"The 9-1-1 call came in from the residence. The grandmother made the call to 911," said Lindale Police Public Information Officer David Craft, "Officers responded. Upon investigation found Vickie McIntyre had been shot multiple times. This investigation is assisted by the Smith County Sheriffs Department."
Lindale Police say they are familiar with Keven. According to the Smith County Jail records, he was arrested twice in 2004 for Driving While Intoxicated.
"We've been aware of him before. We have answered calls to that residence before. Sometimes disturbances, but as far as why and what type I can't go into that," said Craft.
One neighbor, who would not talk on camera, said her husband saw Keven just minutes before the shooting. She said he was acting crazy walking, down his back porch steps without a shirt or shoes and went into his garage. She says he was screaming and slammed a car door.
"Tests have been performed and they are looking if alcohol was involved," said Craft.
Mark Cheney works next door to the home, and when he came to work Tuesday morning he found a crime scene being cleaned up.
"They had the whole backyard quarantined off with crime scene investigation tape. Stuff you see on TV," said Cheney, "It comes as a shock. Less than two doors down where you work. You come in and find out something like this happened in small town Lindale."
For now the question that remains is why a son shot his mother.
Keven McIntyre is in the Smith County Jail charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Bond is set at $500,000.
