City Needs Good Average For EPA Standards

Tuesday was "Ozone Action Day" for the East Texas area and one city in particular is hoping you'll follow the rules. The city of Longview is in danger of reaching the Environmental Protection Agency's non-attainment status.  That means the city would no longer be in attainment status and that can have a negative affect on economic development. Basically, it can put a hold on construction projects and federal highway funding dollars.

Judge Bill Stoudt, Gregg County Judge, says, "We're looking, and we're hoping, for a very low number this next measurement, which will then bring our average back down where it needs to be. With all the rain, we've had and a lot of the wind we've had our next measurement should be pretty good."

Judge Stoudt says four years ago, the city was in non-attainment status, but since then has been okay.
