Man Killed in Horse Track Shooting; Suspect Still on the Loose

Smith County Deputies are still searching for the man who shot and killed another man at an East Texas race track.

Investigators were on the scene late in the night Sunday, at the Rancho Ojo de Agua Horse Track in the 18,500 block of County Road 237. Dispatchers tell KLTV 7, late Sunday evening, a Hispanic male walked out of the woods and shot 46-year old Jose Enrique Gomez-Vallez, of Azle, Texas five times in the back.

Police tell us the suspect is described as a hispanic male about 6' 0'' tall, weighing 150lbs. and having a wide scar on the right side of his face. Officials say he was last seen wearing a yellow t-shirt and blue jeans. Lieutenant Larry Wigginton tells KLTV 7, they believe the suspect left the scene in a 1999 or 2000 4-Door Chevy Cavalier with tinted windows.
