Gift of Love: Tally Finds Her Forever Family

It was November, 2002. at 8 years old, Tally was in foster care. She often talked about the importance of a forever family. "If they weren't loved they would be alone and they wouldn't have a mom or dad and they would have to live in a house by their self they wouldn't be loved and everybody needs to be loved," said Tally in 2002.

Today at 13 years old, Tally has the Gift of Love after being adopted 4 years ago by Debbie and Keith, an East Texas couple.

Debbie said, "I feel very honored that I was given that opportunity." Keith adds, "I love her. It was real nice the first time she ever called me Dad."

Tally now has her own room, lots of friends and lots of love and stability. She says, "Well, now I know that I don't have to be moved around anymore. I'm glad they're in my life and I love them."

Tally is enjoying just being a young girl and doing things like baking cookies in the kitchen with her mom. Hanging on their refrigerator, is the picture of the first day Debbie and Keith met their new daughter. From that moment, their love continued to grow.

"She means the world to us. We would do anything for her," says Debbie.

For Tally, it has truly changed her life. "Knowing that they're there for me and I can have people to depend on means a lot. I'm actually able to talk to them about things more now because I trust them. They make me feel happy."

"We keep telling her everyday that she's very special," says Debbie.

With no children of their own, Keith and Debbie didn't know what to expect having a young girl in the family. "You have to have a little patience. I'm not one for patience but I've got it now," says Keith.

Soon there will be another addition to the family. Debbie and Keith are in the process of adopting another child and once again sharing the Gift of Love.
