TISD Hires Deputy Superintendent for Operations

Tyler Independent School District Board of Trustees has approved and named Cecil McDaniel to the key post of Deputy Superintendent of Operations.   In this position, he will be responsible for the oversight of non curriculum areas, including communications, facilities, human resources, and technology.

"TISD is very fortunate to hire Cecil McDaniel as Deputy Superintendent.  Cecil has a wealth of experience including operations experience, regional service center experience and successful experience in executive director positions, said Tyler ISD Superintendent Dr. Randy Reid.

As part of his reorganization of the administration building, Dr. Reid desires to be more directly connected to the curriculum components of the district.  With Dr. Reid's strength in curriculum, a need for leadership in other operational areas is what was identified.

"As we went through the application process we realized we wanted a candidate with operational experience to handle these other aspects of the district," said Reid.

McDaniel has more than 10 years of school district experience.  McDaniel began his career in public education in Texas Education Agency Region X, and then continued in Richardson ISD in Richardson, Texas.  He has served as the Richardson ISD Director of Customer Relations, Executive and Coordinating Director of Student Services, and most recently Executive Director of Secondary Operations.

McDaniel holds a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations from University of Oklahoma.  He received his Master's Degree in Counseling from Amber University.

The TISD Board of Trustees approved McDaniel's hiring at its July 17 meeting.  McDaniel will be introduced at the regular Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday, August 19.  He officially begins his duties July 23.
