Some Fans Disappointed After No-Shows At Celebrity Game

There were some mixed emotions from the crowd at a the 4th Annual Michael McDonald Celebrity Basketball Game Saturday afternoon.

Both excitment and disappointment.

For weeks ads had told fans Deion Sanders, Michael Irvin and the Mavericks Josh Howard would be in attendance. At game time, all three were no-shows.

Organizers told KLTV, Sanders, who participated in the game last year, had confirmed his attendance but still did not show up. Organizers said they were not sure why Sanders had not appeared. Irvin and Howard never officially confirmed.

Those on hand included former Lobo and NBA player Michael McDonald, Dallas Mavericks Oliver Miller and Darvin Ham and Houston Rocket Tracy Murray.

"It's cool and stuff, but it's kind of disappointing because most people came to see them," said fan Josh Upshaw. "It's still cool to come and stuff but it's not as fun."

"I was hoping to see Deion Sanders but I'm kind of a bit upset," Shaunda Gordon said.

"I was wanting to see Michael Irvin in particular," Ashley Bowie said. "I'm a bit disappointed but at the same time it's Michael Irvin and Deion Sanders."

Fans paid $15 or $20 dollars for tickets. Pre-sales were sold out. The money still however goes to charity. Fans say though they are disappointed they know they have made a helpful donation.
