Police Looking For Men After High Speed Chase

Police are looking for two men they say stole a van and gas and then led them on a high speed chase through two East Texas cities.

Police say after the two men stole a van in North Longview Thursday morning, they then drove to Gladewater and filled up at the Shamrock gas station. That's when police say they drove off without paying, but not before the store's clerk tried to stop them. They hit the man with the van and pushed him out of the way.

Police say the two black men were then spotted in White Oak where a chase ensued. It ended all the way in South Longview. The two men apparently dumped the van in a wooded area and ran on foot. Police have been searching the area with dogs, but have found nothing.

Sergeant Shaun Pendleton with the Longview Police Department, says, " they used the vehicle in the theft, but at the same time they also used the vehicle to push the clerk out of the way when they tried to prevent the theft so that's going to enhance it to a robbery."

Mo Basith, the convenience store clerk, says, "They finished (with )the gas, I go outside, I try to stop them, but they don't want to stop it and then then drive off.  We need to do that to help each other, we're helping each other for all convenient store."

The store clerk is okay, he suffered only minor injuries from the confrontation. If you have any information, contact the Longview Police Department.
