East Texan Named A Triple-A All-Star

He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2002, and now, Jacksonville native Micah Hoffpauir is on the verge of making it to the big leagues. Playing first base for the Triple-A Iowa Cubs, the Lon Morris grad leads the Pacific Coast League with 73 RBI. He was also just named the starting first baseman for the PCL in this year's Triple-A All-Star game.  We caught up with Micah on the road in Albuquerque.

"I'd just like to say hello (to East Texas)," Hoffpauir said.  "It's always a pleasure to be able to get in front of the media from the home town area and all that good stuff.  I've been having a lot of fun and I hope things can continue to go the way they have for me this season, and you know, my career, I haven't had the chance to be in the big leagues yet, and hopefully one day soon I'll get that chance, so yeah, as for now, this is probably one of my biggest moments professionally."

The Triple-A All-Star game is Wednesday, July 11th, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
