Median Construction Along Tyler's Loop Now Underway

More construction for the city of Tyler is underway along Loop 323. Cones are up and crews are out near T.K. Gorman Catholic School. It's the beginning phase of a year-long median installation project. TxDOT said steel supports are being put up and concrete poured, so drivers need to look out for designated places they can turn left along the Loop.

Larry Krantz, a spokesperson for Texas Department of Transportation, said, "Clearly traffic is on the rise, traffic counts are on the rise here in Tyler and we're on the verge of outgrowing some of the infrastructure like 110 and the Loop. And people drive the Loop to know it's very crowded and really what the medians are designed to do is keep everybody pointed in the same direction, moving at a similar rate of speed."

Until fall 2008, frequent lane closures are expected along the Loop from Copeland Road to Fifth Street.
