Wesley Plans To Hang Up Sneakers For Good

He did not know whether it would be in Houston or Dallas, but David Wesley said he is ready to settle down and say goodbye to the NBA.

In a phone interview with KLTV Thursday, Wesley said this season with the Cleveland Cavaliers was his last in the NBA.

"Being in the NBA Finals, it's a good way to go out," David said. "I believe this is it."

David has spent 14 seasons in the NBA, most recently with the Eastern Conference Champion Cavaliers.

But even a trip in the NBA finals could not keep the former Longview Lobo from returning home to help another generation of hoopsters. David's annual camp will begin Friday, June 29, at the Longview Lobo's Coliseum.

"(The kids) get a chance to look at somebody who played in the same parks and same schools and walked the same halls they did," David said. "It's kind of one of those tangible things that they can kind of touch and see. I'm sure I've created a lot of fans from coming back home and they know I'm one of them."

Kids ages 8-18 can still register for David's camp when it starts Friday morning at 8 a.m. It runs until 4 p.m. both Friday and Saturday at the Longview Lobos Coliseum. The cost is $100.
