It's been a memorable week for some East Texas children and senior citizens. For the first time, Briarcliff Health Center along with Heart to Heart Hospice held an Adopt A grandparent Summer Camp. Thursday, the children threw a birthday party for one of the residents, but that's not all they've been doing with their adopted grandparent.
"We've made picture frames and necklaces," said nine-year-old Blake Briscoe. "I made her this little Noah's Ark door hanger."
"We've been hanging out with the residents, and we've been throwing the balls with them and been eating cake and ice cream," said six-year-old Jackson Woodard.
Along with all the activities, the children learned about Alzheimer, diabetes and other illnesses that affect East Texas seniors.
Briarcliff is offering three more Adopt a Grandparent Summer Camps June 23-27, July 30-August 3 and August 6-10. It costs $25.00 per child for the entire week. To register, call Briarcliff Health Center at 903-581-5714.
