Sheriff's Office: Initial Reports Of Plane Down Now Believed Not To Be True

Early Tuesday morning reports of a plane down in the northern part of Titus County have turned out to be false.  The Titus County Sheriff's Office said Monday night they received three calls around midnight.  The first two were "shots fired" and of an explosion near the small community of Argo.

Authorities think the noises were coming from a house. The third call was from the FCC in Fort Worth saying a plane's distress signal was going off near Mount Pleasant. This led investigators to initially believe the explosion was a plane crash.

"Right now we believe that the shots fired and the explosion are related, and we don't believe that it's related to the distress signal that we got, but you know, that's something that the investigation will hopefully tell us," Chief Deputy Miguel Larsen said.

Deputies are still investigating the incident.  Right now, they do not know what the explosion was but have brought in the homeowner for questioning.
