Lindale ISD Custodian Wins $1 Million

A Lindale ISD custodian is now a millionaire after hitting it big with a scratch-off ticket.  The winning ticket was bought at the Mr. J's convenience store on Shiloh and Troup in Tyler.

The clerk who sold the ticket says the winner, Ralph Hilts, is a regular at the store.  She says he bought a $50 scratch-off ticket with the winnings from another scratch-off ticket.

"I've never had a winner that I had to send to the state lottery, even the local lottery office.  I believe it pays up to $999,000," said Mr. J's cashier Thelma Moose.

We spoke with Mr. Hilts, but he did not want to go on camera. He told us he plans to pay off some bills with his money and he has bought a new pickup truck.
