Child Taken In Carjacking Later Found Unharmed

At approximately 6:06 am, Wednesday morning, Longview Police responded to 1704 Tenth Street in reference to an aggravated kidnapping.

According to initial police reports, the victim was getting out of her car at the Village South Apartments located at 717 South Green when the suspect forced her back into her car at gunpoint and ordered her to drive.

The suspect told her to go to a park on the north side, believed to be Ingram Park, and the victim asked if she could drop off her 3 year old daughter at a friend's house first.  She pulled into the driveway on Tenth Street and got out of the car and begged to get her child.  The suspect told her to get her baby out, but he drove away before she had a chance.

A 911 call was later received at approximately 6:26 am in which the caller stated there was a baby in a vehicle at the carwash on Sabine Street.  Officers immediately went to this location and located the vehicle and child from the carjacking.

The vehicle was seized for processing and the child was reported to be fine and her mother was brought to the carwash to take custody of her daughter.

The suspect was described as a black male approximately 20 to 25 years of age and about 5'08" in height weighing around 140 pounds.  He was wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt.  He had a thin build, short hair and was clean shaven.

He was armed with some type of rifle or shotgun.

Anyone with information concerning this kidnapping is asked to contact the Longview Police Department at 903.237.1110 or Gregg County Crime Stoppers at 903.236.STOP.
