Campbell's Spotlight Shines On East Texans

The cover of the 2007 Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine reads from "Small Town to Big Time." For another year some of the athletes at the smaller East Texas school's are picking up big time attention.

Naming the Super Team Offense, Van's Jermie Calhoun is called a human highlight reel by the magazine. The article points to the running back's 3,300 yards rushing in the past two seasons and his obvious speed. Calhoun is also listed as one of the state's top 300 recruits.

Also on the Super Team Offense a Gilmer Buckeye. Campbell's magazine calls offensive lineman David Snow the "best lineman in the state below the 5A level."

Teammate Justin Johnson joins Snow in Super Team status, this time on the defensive side.

Johnson is noted as one of the top 20 running backs in the state but because of his strength and ability to quote "run over tacklers," Texas football sees Johnson as a threat on the other side of the ball.
