Stores are on high alert Thursday, after two robberies and a burglary at area businesses.
The first was a burglary that occurred around 11pm Wednesday, at the Valero station on Troup Highway and Thistle Road. The owner tells KLTV 7 he received a call saying there was motion inside his store. When he arrived, he found the glass shattered in his front door.
"Two guys come inside the store, hit the glass, and go inside, open the door in the back and steal some cigarettes. They were looking for money and tried to open the safe," said Salim Hussein, owner of the Valero station.
Hussein says he will have to stay at the store and keep watch since his door is left wide open.
"They have covered their face and wore gloves so we have no finger prints but we can not see their face." Hussein said about the store's surveillance video.
Just an hour later and a block down the road, around Midnight two men robbed the Food Fast on Troup Highway and Kensington.
Tyler Police tell us two men entered the store, possibly with a gun, and took an undetermined amount of money. The men fled on foot, jumping a fence behind the store. The clerk was not injured in the robbery.
Then at 2:30am, Police were called to the Valero on Shiloh at Paluxy in reference to another robbery.
Police say they are getting conflicting reports on the robbers descriptions. KLTV 7 has learned no weapon was shown in the robberies Thursday morning. However, Tyler Police tell us it appears something, possibly a weapon, was under one of the suspect's shirt.
