Rain Cancels Alleyfest Last Day

The storm that rushed through East Texas cut short the final day of Longview's Alleyfest, but organizers still claim success.  As the skies opened up over Longview's 29th annual Alleyfest,  the few that had set up shop for the last day scrambled to get their stock packed up.

"Pretty much everybody packed up early," said Alleyfest vendor Jeffery Koslow.

After two solid days of big crowds, fun and music, the vendors were looking forward to the traditional family Sunday.  "We had two great days at Alleyfest this year, Friday record crowds," said event organizer Elaine Reynolds.

But only a few customers braved the weather.  "Unfortunately mother nature took over," Koslow said.

A driving rain forced the decision to close up shop around noon today.  "Two good solid days of good weather and then sometimes that third day gets us this year was one of those unfortunately for citizens who couldn't come out this afternoon," Reynolds said.

Organizers say record crowds attended the music fest on Friday and Saturday nights.  Work is already underway for next year's Alleyfest.
