Longview Residents Praise National Spellers

The national spelling bee is nearing the final vowel or consonant in Washington D.C. and locally we decided to give east Texans a chance to spell some of the challenging words these kids are breezing through. People we talked with in Longview were very impressed with the kids competing in the bee. We gave several of them a chance to take their own version of the spelling bee. From office workers to librarians to police officers. Many came away with a new respect for spellers.

"The preparation the word lists that I remember from high school the u-i-l word lists page after page after page of multi-syllable words that we don't use in everyday conversation" said Longview librarian David Hamblin.

You can watch the championship round of the Scripps national spelling bee tonight on KLTV 7 beginning at 7:00 o'clock.
