Heavy Rains Cause Several Wrecks On I-20

Heavy rains today made for some slick roads on Interstate 20 and kept first responders extra busy.   Between mile marker 575 and Barber Road, near the Smith and Gregg county line authorities say they worked as many as eight different wrecks.   This afternoon, a five car wreck slowed west bound traffic to one lane. Two divers were taken to the hospital. No word on their injuries.

A few hours later, just down the road authorities responded to seven different accidents. Authorities say drivers were hydroplaning all afternoon, which slowed west bound traffic for several hours. The slick roads were even to rough for a volunteer fire truck who went off the road.  Several drivers were taken to the hospital, but no major injuries have been reported.
