TJC Third Baseman Named Player Of Year

COLORADO SPRINGS - The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) has named Tyler Junior College (Texas) third baseman Brock Lemire as the NJCAA Division III Baseball Player of the Year.

Lemire finished the regular season batting .405 with 53 runs batted in, which ranked eighth in NJCAA Division III.

His play helped lead Tyler to a season of many firsts, including Tyler receiving a No. 1 national ranking during the regular season, winning the Metro Athletic Conference - Region 5 and NJCAA District C titles, and the program's first-ever World Series berth and National Championship.

Lemire's final stats, including the post-season, were amazing. He finished 2007 with a .472 batting average with 64 RBIs, 10 home runs, 23 doubles, a .778 slugging percentage and 30 walks.

In the Division III World Series he posted a .526 average, which earned him Tournament MVP honors. He led all players with eight runs scored and an on-base percentage of .640. He reached base safely on 16 of 25 plate appearances.

Lemire, who also posted a .896 fielding percentage playing third base this year, will continue his academic and baseball career next year with NCAA Division I McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La.
