Longview Hosts Fairgrounds Biker Rally

Bikers from all over the country, are in Longview for an annual charity event that marks Memorial Day weekend.  More than 1,000 participants gathered at the Longview Fairgrounds for the second annual Party in the Pines bike rally.  The event features three days of games, joker-runs and a bike art show.  Many who attend the event, are glad to take part in the festivities,  but stress the importance of keeping the Memorial Day observance in perspective.

"It's an important day for me because so many have gave everything and we're able to get out here and play and ride our motorcycles and have a big time but there's people right now that are fighting for their lives and we need to remember them and the ones that come before.  That's what it's all about," said  army Vietnam veteran Nathan Wilkins of Kilgore.

The event continues Sunday with a bike parade set at 2:00 p.m. down on Cotton St. The gate opens at 8:00 a.m.
