Hundreds Attend Henderson County Deputy Visitation

Hundreds attended the visitation for Henderson County Deputy Paul Habelt Tuesday afternoon.  Family, friends and peace officers as far as Houston made the drive to pay their respects to Habelt, who was killed responding to a domestic dispute last week. Those in law enforcement say losing a fellow officer, is like losing a member of the family.

"It doesn't matter if it's firefighters, or police officers," said Andrew Wilson, Shady Oaks Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief. "We are all one big family."

"Personally, at moments like this, it gives us reason to think about those police officers and peace officers and all the public servants, what they do on a daily basis," said David Holstein, Henderson County Judge. "They do it willing, and many times they stand between crime and our citizens."  Deputy Habelt's funeral is set for Wednesday afternoon.
