East Texas Ambulance New Technology

Some East Texas ambulances are going to be arriving to the scene faster and with more information thanks to new technology.

This two-way technology is being installed in one hundred vehicles over the next four months at East Texas Medical Center. The system enables the dispatch center to communicate to the emergency vehicle vital information such as the location using electronic mapping devices ane well as details from the scene. In the past this was all done over radio's and crews using this technology say it has made a big difference.

"Crews love it it's working well.I guess you can say its been a lifesaver. It will save lives. It will keep us occasionally from not making mistakes when we are responding to a location. It'll guarantee we will know where we are going at all times." said Tony Myers, ETMC EMS Vice President and Cheif Operating Officer.

This half a million dollar project also has technology that communicates the stages of the emergency call back to the dispatch center. These include in route, at scene, transporting, destination,...all the way back to available.

Additionally, this system requires little or no training for personnel to operate.
