Local Law Enforcement's Help Henderson Co. Sheriff's Dept.

Local law enforcement agencies are helping out the Henderson County Sheriff's Department during this difficult time.

They have received an outpouring of support. They say law enforcement is almost like a brotherhood that bands them together with other agencies. The generosity extends from flowers to everyday duties.

"Friday morning officers from Upshur County showed up and said that Sheriff had sent them down here," said Henderson County Lieutenant Pat McWilliams.

Their loss is felt by everyone who wears the uniform. Now, law enforcement agencies around  East Texas are wrapping their arms around Henderson County.

"Different counties have sent people to work patrol. Work, Upshur County sent people to work dispatch, Kaufman County sent people to work patrol for us. Anderson County sent people"

"At the present time we are using our officers for patrol in Henderson County and we will continue doing that until they get back to strength and back on patrol. Probably until the end of this week," said Smith County Sheriff J.B. Smith.

"Comradery between agencies is always important and it doesn't just have to be law enforcement..people taking care of each other," said Smith.

From food to flowers to kind words, there is no shortage of citizens doing what they can to help.

"Its just been amazing, outstanding," said McWilliams.

"It's huge. Outpouring, remarkable just the citizens that we deal with on a one on one basis aren't regular citizens we forget a lot of times how we are received," said Deputy Tony Duncan, Henderson County Sheriff's Department.

"We live in a very violent world and those things can come crashing down on you at any time. You have to depend on each other other counties and other agencies to help you and that's what we are doing"

"People just drive by roll down the windows and say we appreciate you. That's heartfelt it really is," said McWilliams.

A heartfelt thanks lending a hand for a brother.

Outside of East Texas, people are pitching in to support the Henderson County Sheriff's Department.

One Big Lots in Dallas is having a three day fundraiser with a raffle, where all of the proceeds will go to the families of the fallen officers.
