Mayor Seeber: 'The Future Is Bright' For Tyler

In his annual State of the City address to the Chamber of Commerce today, Mayor Joey Seeber says Tyler's future is very bright.

Pointing to the Tyler 21 plan he kicked off last year, he says there are hundreds of people working to insure our children and grandchildren enjoy the same quality of life that we have today on committees including Historic Preservation, Parks and Recreation, North End Revitalization, Housing and Neighborhood Identity and Public Facilities and Services.

He says traffic congestion continues to be one of the biggest problems plaguing Tyler, and says steps are being taken to help alleviate it.

"We're installing some adaptive controls in the South Broadway corridor.  We're going to make some intersection improvements that will help the flow of traffic.  Loop 49 is continuing.  Grande Boulevard is going to be open in a few years, all the way to 110.  So, there's a lot going on that's going to help alleviate some of the problems we have," says Seeber.

However, he says in spite of all those measures, he's not sure the city's roads will ever catch up to its growth.
