Smith County Detective Appointed To Texas Polygraph Examiner Board

A 13 year veteran of the Smith County Sheriff's Department has been appointed by the governor to the Texas Polygraph Examiner Board.  Detective Gory Loveday has been the sheriff department's polygraph examiner for several years.  This afternoon, Sheriff J.B. Smith and County Judge Joel Baker recognized Gory Loveday for his achievement.

"I feel very honored, and it's a very great priviledge," said Gory Loveday.  "What it means is I will be traveling to Austin about four times a year and primarily look at any complaints that have been lodged into any of the polygraph examiners.  I will look at the rules and regulations to make sure the citizens of Texas are protected under the law."  Loveday has been in law enforcement for 30 years.
