East Texans Golden At State Track & Field Meet

Some East Texans were not just good they were golden Saturday at the state track and field meet at the University of Texas at Austin.

Tatum's Darnius Moore on gold in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles. He also set new Class 2A records finishing with times of 13.69 and 36.99.

Also bringing home the gold and following in the family foot steps, Robert E. Lee's Tyler Fleet.

Tyler won the gold in the 5A discus throw. Fleet won the gold 50 years after his grandfather won gold for the same event.

Other East Texas gold medals; Class 3A, Kendall Wright of Pittsburg was first in the triple jump, Chapel Hill's Leandria Lee finished first in the 200 meter dash, Class 2A,Donavan Sammons of Tatum first in the 400 meter dash, the Arp 800 meter relay team set a new 2A record as well, and Broderick Meekings of Winona brought home the gold in the 200 meter.
