Alcohol Sales Dominates Longview Elections

Several Longview propositions were the target of a lot of attention, but the alcohol sales propositions were the big issue in these elections.  The legal sale of mixed beverages in restaurants by food and beverage certificate holders only, has passed with 4136 votes for and 2956 against.   The legal sale of beer and wine for off-premise consumption only, including supermarkets, was voted down. There were 3354 votes casted for and 3764 against.

Meantime, the first five propositions dealing with more than 26 million dollars in bonds all passed.  The issues were dispersed in five different propositions covering street, municipal and fire substation improvements.

District five city councilman John Bolster and district six councilman Sidney Allen ran unopposed.
